Design Examples

OVERVIEW

The following design samples are assignments from the course Designing Technical Documents. They are primarily Photoshop assignments, and there is also an infographic example I designed using Canva. While I’m still learning Photoshop tricks, I enjoy creating visual graphics, and I’m excited to create more.

Before taking a design class, I had limited experience with InDesign and Photoshop. The course taught me new Photoshop skills, and through practice, I learned many skills on my own. I learned that in Photoshop, constant practice is essential to becoming a proficient graphic designer.

Music Cover Art Assignment

Dr. Friess provided us with assigned band and album names for this assignment. My album name was My Broken Brain and the album name was Creature of the Night. She also assigned pictures to transform into three different album covers. My original assigned picture of a fern can be seen below:

Original fern picture

My job was to take the picture of the fern and create three album covers in Photoshop. Below are my three creations:

For this version, I played with the lasso tool, gradients, and color effects.
For this version, I decided to go with a more abstract idea.
For the final version, I experimented with color settings and the Liquify feature to create this edgy edition.
